Public Participation in PM’s Vadodara Programme Books Out Fast

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) announced free public registration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-anticipated programme in Vadodara set for this Tuesday. The registration opened on BookMyShow and saw overwhelming interest, with all seats booked within an hour. Over 42,000 applicants now remain on the waiting list, demonstrating the public’s eagerness to engage with the PM’s initiatives.

This pioneering approach aims to enhance transparency and accessibility, marking a significant shift in how government events interact with citizens. Registered participants will enjoy a seamless entry experience through a fully digital system. They will receive an M-Ticket on their BookMyShow accounts, complete with a secure QR code for easy verification upon entry.

The VMC designed this digital framework to streamline the registration and verification process, ensuring quick access and better crowd management. This user-friendly method facilitates a smooth flow of attendees, helping to maintain order at the event.

On the agenda for Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi will visit Gujarat and Maharashtra to inaugurate and dedicate development projects exceeding ₹35,000 crore in value. Among the highlights in Vadodara is the dedication of three significant sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), spanning 326 route kilometres and developed at a cost of ₹20,700 crore. These sections include New Sanand (N) – New Makarpura, New Umbergaon – New Saphale, and New Saphale – New JNPT.

The Prime Minister’s dedication of these sections promises to enhance connectivity for the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). Improved access will foster faster movement of EXIM cargo and reduce logistics costs, streamlining connections between industrial centres and ports while alleviating congestion on Mumbai’s railway network.

With the commissioning of these crucial segments, the entire Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will be operational, reinforcing India’s logistics infrastructure. The upgrade aims to bolster multimodal connectivity, curtail transit times, and enable efficient cargo movement across regions.

Additionally, Modi will flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT, enhancing freight capabilities. The Prime Minister will also introduce a new passenger train service between Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar), promising to improve local transportation.

In a further push for connectivity, the Prime Minister will dedicate the Jobat–Tanda Road new rail line, extending the national rail network’s reach to remote areas of Alirajpur. This project represents an investment in connecting tribal regions with vital infrastructure.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for three key railway projects totaling 329 kilometres at more than ₹9,700 crore. These projects include the third and fourth lines on the Vadodara-Ratlam route, the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion, and the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project. Collectively, these initiatives aim to address capacity challenges and enhance connectivity across Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

Furthermore, Modi will initiate three National Highway projects at an investment of approximately ₹1,780 crore. Noteworthy projects include the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48 and the construction of major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada on the Vadodara-Surat section of NH-48.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate various projects under the Government of Gujarat totaling around ₹2,600 crore. Significant undertakings include the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II, a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, and new offices for the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Additional projects earmarked for inauguration include housing initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and a water-supply scheme for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.

Simultaneously, in Mumbai, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026. This prestigious conference serves as a leading platform in the fintech world and runs from September 8 to 11, 2026. It brings together key stakeholders from the global financial ecosystem, including policymakers, regulators, fintech innovators, and investors, to discuss the future of finance.

The theme for GFF 2026 focuses on how emerging technologies, including Agentic AI and Tokenisation, can create trusted, inclusive financial systems worldwide. The event aims to consolidate India’s role in digital payments and financial inclusion, transforming potential into impactful reality.
