The constable, identified as Khurshid Ahmad Wani, a selection-grade officer, reportedly drove his vehicle recklessly, leading to the injury of Majid Ahmad Khan, the SHO. Authorities confirmed that the incident happened while Wani was overspeeding in his vehicle, bearing registration number JK16A-3739.
Officials detained Wani earlier on Monday in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Authorities seized the vehicle involved in the incident, which has raised questions about police conduct and discipline.
The SHO, Majid Ahmad Khan, after being hit, received immediate medical attention. His current condition remains stable, with local reports indicating he will recover fully. Police spokespersons stated that they actively monitor the situation and expect a thorough inquiry.
