Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Monday announced that the Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases — on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14. The entire election process will be completed by November 16, he said.
Addressing a press conference, Kumar described the upcoming Bihar polls as the “mother of all elections”, emphasizing the importance of ensuring transparency and smooth conduct across all constituencies.
As per the Election Commission’s schedule, 121 Assembly constituencies will go to the polls in the first phase on November 6, and 122 constituencies in the second phase on November 11.
“It is mandatory to complete counting of postal ballots before the last two rounds of counting of votes,” said the Chief Election Commissioner.
Nomination and Withdrawal Dates
For the first phase, the last date for filing nominations is October 17, while scrutiny will take place on October 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 20.
For the second phase, the last date for filing nominations is October 20, scrutiny will be held on October 21, and the last date for withdrawal is October 23.
The term of the current Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22.
Bihar has a total of 243 Assembly constituencies, including two reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 38 reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC).
